I had a friend recently ask me if I thought she should make her son finish out the baseball season when he wanted to quit.
Here’s my 2 cents … I believe that children should complete a season or set of lessons if they have already signed up.
Developing a strong work ethic is a learned skill. So is learning to follow through on commitments, developing perseverance, developing self-discipline, and living a life of responsibility – all lessons learned by following through with something they’ve signed up for.
These are fundamental core values and how kids apply them in one area of their lives will translate into how they manage other areas of their lives where they can have a big impact – such as school, work, and even relationships.
What’s your opinion? Do you think kids should stick it out or do you think it’s OK for them to quit mid-season?
