A kids life coaching business is a “know, like and trust business”! A parent or school either wants to know, like, and trust you or they want to know someone who knows, likes and trusts you.
For that reason, leveraging your personal network, and the network of your network, are the most effective ways to launch your Kids Life Coaching Business.
And the good news is, it’s free!
Before you invest in advertising, a website, or social media marketing, do the most effective marketing – that costs you nothing but a little time.

How to Say What You Do as a Life Coach for Kids
It’s important to practice saying what you do so that you are confident about having conversations with others. If you aren’t confident talking about your business, you might hesitate to speak up when you meet someone who could benefit from your coaching.
The first step is to create a 30-second “elevator pitch” that enables you to quickly introduce yourself and describe what you do. A good elevator pitch describes who you serve and how you help.
The second step is to be prepared to talk in more detail about your services. Be able to explain what life coaching for kids is and how it helps children, how coaching is different from counseling, the skills you help children develop, how you actually work with children to get results, and how you engage with parents along the way.
To help our coaches with marketing their kids life coaching business, Adventures in Wisdom provides three powerful resources:
First, coaches receive training on how to create their elevator pitch as well as several models they can follow to create a message that feels right to them.
Second, to support coaches in having more in-depth conversations whether in person or via email, Adventures in Wisdom provides “Message Makers” which are done-for-you messaging to describe each of the 27 skill books as well as the 8 different coaching packages they can offer to parents. Message Makers help coaches know exactly how to communicate the benefits of coaching in a way that parents would want for their children.
Third, make an ask. Whether it be to exchange contact details, ask them to share about you with others and offer to send messaging to make that easy, or ask to make an educational present to a group.

Third, Adventures in Wisdom provides marketing collateral and training to help coaches answer commonly asked questions such as how coaching helps children, how coaching is different from counseling, the STORY Coaching Process that is used during coaching sessions, and so much more!
Once you are confident about what you will say about yourself, then it’s time to reach out to your personal network first and share your message!
How to Leverage Your Personal Network
Whether you are marketing your coaching services to parents or to schools, the first place to start is with your personal network – people you already know and who “know, like, and trust” you!
As a coach, you’re helping children develop the skills to be confident and prepared to thrive in life, so now it’s time to get excited and share what you do. As one of our WISDOM Coaches says, it’s time to “beam and gloat”!
When you reach out to your network, share with them about how you’re helping kids and ask them to share with the people they know who also care about kids. To help you brainstorm, Adventures in Wisdom provides a list of 15 different types of people you can reach out to as well as email templates that you can use during your outreach AND messaging that you can share with your network to help spread the word. You’re not starting from scratch.
If you are marketing to schools, start with your local schools first. If you have children in school, then ask your child’s teacher who is in charge of student wellbeing. And if you don’t know someone at the school, ask your network if they have a contact and can make a warm introduction.
Because public schools have less flexibility with their curriculum and time, many of our WISDOM Coaches have found success proposing after school programs. They have also found more success working with private schools and charter schools who tend to have more flexibility in their schedule and also emphasize social emotional learning within their school.
Homeschool organizations are also a great opportunity for WISDOM Coaches because homeschoolers often focus on developing the whole child and student wellbeing in addition to academics.
Using Referrals, Testimonials, and Success Stories to Market Your Kids Life Coaching Business
One of the most powerful ways to grow your business is through referrals. Most clients will be happy to refer you to others and share your information. But you have to ask because most people won’t think about doing it on their own. To help you with asking for referrals, Adventures in Wisdom provides a training module on how to grow your business using referrals.
The same is true about asking for testimonials. The best time to ask for a testimonial and request referrals is when the child has had a breakthrough or win. You can ask your clients for testimonials and referrals at any time, you don’t have to wait for the coaching engagement to be finished.
In addition to testimonials, creating success stories are a powerful way to market your kids life coaching business. Success stories help paint the picture of the challenge a child faced, the skills you helped them develop, and the transformation that occurred as a result of your coaching. You can include a testimonial from the parent and the child as well. Be sure to change people’s names to protect privacy.
But what if you don’t have any success stories yet? No problem! Use the success stories of other coaches certified in the same program you are and simply say, “Here is a success story about a child overcoming fear and creating confidence. This coach used the same curriculum and coaching process that I am certified in and use with children.”
Adventures in Wisdom provides extensive training and resources, as well as scripts, to assist WISDOM Coaches with:
- Requesting referrals
- Requesting testimonials
- Writing success stories
- And how to use all of these in your marketing
Growing your network
As a business owner, you always want to be growing your network and there are a lot of opportunities to help spread the word.
Networking is not only a great way to make new connections for your business, but also a great way to make new friends!
To help coaches become successful networkers, Adventures in Wisdom provides a training module on how to use networking to build your business as well as a list of over 20 different types of organizations where you can network and make connections!
What about Using Social Media to Market Your Kids Life Coaching Business?
Social media can be a great way to share about your business with the people you are connected to.
Some of our coaches create a business page while others post on their personal profile (or both). You can post success stories, tips for parents, and share about events or programs you have coming up.
To support our coaches with social media, Adventures in Wisdom frequently posts content that WISDOM Coaches can share and connect their own business to the messaging.
Because coaching is a know, like, and trust business, we don’t recommend paying for advertising on social media platforms. Paid ads are like “billboards” that are shown to a stranger in a flash and are very unlikely to motivate someone to connect with you to work with their child.
